 What is Sustainable Fashion?

According to Wikipedia, Sustainable Fashion (aka Eco-Fashion) is defined as "a movement and process of fostering change to fashion products and the fashion system towards greater ecological integrity and social justice"(wikipedia.org/sustainable_fashion).

The Sustainable Fashion Forum is a consortium of designers, manufacturers and retailers with a mission to change the fashion industry. The fashion industry is second only to the oil industry, as the most polluting industry in the world. There are so many ways that we can change what we do to make fashion less polluting to the planet.

What can we do?

We can stop shopping at Fast Fashion retailers; We can shop from from sustainable brands; We can shop secondhand; We can swap clothes with friends and family; Finally, we can take care of the items in our closet by following washing instructions and mending when necessary.

Being sustainable does NOT have to be expensive. We can work sustainable fashion into ALL of our budgets...start by wearing and caring for what is already in your closet.

Cheers!!
