If you are wondering what the heck a Project Pan is, it is predominantly a project to use up your makeup before it expires, particularly those makeup items that are liquid or cream based. However, you can also add items from skincare, body care and hair care categories.
Project panning can take on several forms as well. The main one is the "Rolling Year-long Project Pan" which consists of selecting a certain number of products, usually 5 -10, at one time then adding in new ones as you reach your goal on others.
Other projects include seasonal, cream, palette and "Deck of Panning" projects. Currently I am working on a blend of the rolling year-long and seasonal projects. My goal is use up as many as I can, but certain items I roll in and out seasonally.
Shown below are the makeup and skincare items I am panning/using up this year:
As I mentioned above I am doing a blend of rolling year-long and seasonal project pans. Most of my makeup items such as primers, foundation, concealer, setting powder and palettes, are part of the yearly project pan. However, the eyeshadow, blush and highlight within the palettes will change as the seasons change. Other items that will change are bronzer, eyeliner, lipliner and lip colour items.
In the picture below are the Too Faced Milk Soleil Bronzer, Anastasia Beverly Hills Sugar Glow Starburst Highlight, and Sephora eyeshadow and blush from my Beautiful Crush Palette (old and no longer available). As you can see, I have "Hit Pan" on all of these products. That means I have used up some or most of the product so much that you can see the base of the product underneath. As summer comes upon us, these items will be rolled out (bronzer) or changed (highlight, eyeshadow and blush within their corresponding palettes).
The next picture contains the primers and foundation I am using. The first primer is the Urban Decay Primer Potion (which I have decanted into an empty tub) which is used to prime your eyelids for eyeshadow. It helps your eyeshadow to last longer and not crease. As you can see I have used quite a bit of it. I plan to keep this in the project until it is gone. The second primer is the e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer which I use on my nose and the area immediately around it. I also plan to use this primer up, so it is part of the year-long project pan. I mix the CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops with my e.l.f. Mineral Infused Primer (not shown) to add a hint of bronze to my complexion. I use these products on the rest of my face. Finally, I am using up my Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup until it is gone. However, I may add a darker foundation in during my Summer Project Pan if my skin gets significantly darker due to the sun.
Shown in the picture below, are the Dead Sea Collection Collagen Anti Aging Day Cream, which I mix with the foundation (above) that I am currently using up to make it less dry looking. Also, I am using up the e.l.f. 16Hr Camo Concealer and the Full Cover Concealer (from an unknown brand not shown on bottle). The Camo Concealer is too light so I use it as a brightener, and I blend it with the Full Cover Concealer which is the right colour for my complexion. Finally I am currently wearing my Lancome Juicy Tube gloss in Tickled Pink. I will not be using up this gloss as it is one of the items that will be rolled out for summer.
Finally, shown in the picture below are setting powders and a nail polish I am panning. First is the NYX Professional Highlight Powder in Soft Light which I am using as an under-eye brightener and to set my concealer. The Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattefying Loose Setting Powder in Translucent I use to set my foundation and concealer, my entire face essentially. I am also using up my Mariposa Nail Polish Mini this year, as well as the powders.
Next, I will show the skincare I am using up this year in my rolling project pan. I have divided the products into day and night.
The skincare products I use in the morning include the AOA Studio pH 5.5 Cica and Licorice Root Gel Cleanser, followed by The Body Shop Seawead Oil Balancing Toner (not shown) and the Spascriptions Radiance Boosting Facial Mist. Then I spread 2-3 drops of the Way of Will Brightening Serum to my face, neck and upper chest area, and the e.l.f. Illuminating Eye Cream (sample size) to my upper and lower eyelid areas. This a light-weight cream that does not cause milia to appear on my skin under my eyes.
The products I use at night include the gel cleanser (above) as well as the items shown below: The Kahina Giving Beauty Oil Cleanser (not gel as I mistakenly called it it). I use this to break down my eye makeup predominantly, and my face afterwards. I follow up with the AOA gel cleanser (above) and some water to further breakdown my makeup. Once my face is clean, I add the ActiveWow Anti-Aging Retinol Moisturizer, which I spread down my neck and upper chest as well. I use the E.R.A. Firm and Lift Revitalizing Eye Serum around my eyes (lower and upper lid area). The Lush Lip Scrub in Toffee Apple is a lovely product to slough dead skin off my lips and lip area, and it tastes pretty good too!!
To follow-up on my lip scrub, I finish my nightly routine with the K.Voss Lip Treatment in Fig Macaroon. This is a thick lip balm that I use to moisturize my lips overnight. Finally, I have hair care products as part of my year-long panning project. Currently I am using the Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Zero Silicone Fortifying Shampoo and The Body Shop Ginger Scalp Care Conditioner which I store upside down as it is a thick conditioner, so it is easier to squeeze out of the bottle. I also use the Batiste Dry Shampoo halfway through the week (I wash my hair once per week) to absorb any excess oil on my scalp.
There you have the majority of the items I am either using up in my year-long project, or getting use out of in my seasonal projects. Some items I have only shown in the overall product pictures as they are hard to show progress on. Batiste Dry Shampoo is a product that is tough to show progress on but I wanted to show as part of my overall haircare lineup.
I hope you found this post both interesting and informative. If you are interested in starting a panning project, YouTube is a great resource for informative videos on how to start a project, the different kinds of panning projects, and great tips on what to start with as a new panner.
Good Luck!
