My Thoughts On Remembrance

Every November 11th, we take a moment of our day to remember those who fought for our freedom. Many whom have lost loved ones who fought or served in the national armed forces, will attend formal services to commemorate their service to our country.

Another Armistice Day has passed with a war being fought between two nations, and one of them has been Russia. Thankfully the Ukrainian forces have had more victories; With many western countries supporting them with weapons, and some kind of vehicle to deliver such weapons, they will continue to have more.

What are the Russians fighting for? Land that Putin wants to take from Ukraine...and eventually Ukraine itself back under the Iron Curtain of Communism? Why? To show how big and powerful Putin's Russia is?

The last lilliputian dictator that pulled this stunt was Napoleon Bonaparte!! It didn't work out so well for him in the end, and I am pretty sure that Putin will be served a similar fate...soon I hope! Declaring war on another sovereign nation to appease one's EGO is never a good idea!!

It is time for Putin to remember what happened to Napoleon and smarten up! History that is forgotten is often repeated. Meanwhile I sit here and hope for cooler heads to prevail and an end to this war to come with Victory to Ukraine, and a lesson to future national leaders.

When you feel abundant, your desire for more is replaced by a feeling of enough, or even that of wealth. Skulls, Acorns, and Pumpkins...Oh My!

Hygge is a Danish term for adding a "quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being" (Oxford Dictionary). Mostly this is achieved through decorative expression which creates a feeling of welcome and hospitality, and most of all, comfort. Expressing your personality through decor, from everyday to special occasions such as holidays, makes not only you feel comfortable in your home, but others see a part of you in your environment. This first picture is of the shelves in our Powder Room above the toilet. It's fun to add a little holiday flare to unexpected areas of the condo. All of the Glitter pumpkins and the skull were purchased at Dollarama, so you definitely do not have to spend a lot of money when decorating your space.  This is a picture of our coffee table. Self Care is Good for the Soul

I choose Sundays as my day to indulge in some beauty self care. I take a nice relaxing bath, I put on a face mask...sometimes a sheet mask, but most of the time it is some kind of mask you spread on your face manually.  The latest one I tried was this Life Brand Revitalizing Cucumber and Witch Hazel Peel-off mask. It was goopy and spread over the face nicely. It's a clear gel-type mask so you it's hard to tell in the picture below that I have anything on my face, other than it looking wet. I let it dry while I relaxed in the tub.  Once I could feel it was dry, I peeled it off. It left my face soft and glowing, but I wouldn't say it felt overly hydrating or plumped. Overall, it was nice mask to try and not overly expensive either, about $3 CAD at Shopper's Drug Mart. If you can get them on sale for 50% off, stock up on a few different kinds! After my mask, I washed my hair, shaved and washed up. That is how I like to relax each Sunday. What is your self care routine?
